Microlearning Module: Perioperative Hypothermia (1 CME)

Did you know that – allowing patients to become hypothermic intraoperatively can have devastating consequences for our patients?

Several recent studies have shown that up to 50 % of our patients have temperatures of <36 degrees C in the immediate postoperative period despite several international and national guidelines designed to educate and guide the perioperative team in how to avoid this phenomenon.

Widening of thermoregulatory thresholds and triphasic drop of temperature together with a cold environment is responsible for the development of perioperative hypothermia during anaesthesia. However, it is not impossible to prevent hypothermia.

This Microlearning Module will teach you the most important adverse outcomes associated with perioperative hypothermia.  Our experts are going to guide you to develop strategies to minimize intraoperative hypothermia.
