Hospital Visiting and Training Accreditation Programme

Interested in becoming a HVTAP visitor for the ESA?

05 Aug 2013

The Hospital Visiting and Training Accreditation Programme (HVTAP) is run by a joint committee formed by the European Society of Anaesthesiology (ESA) and the European Board of Anaesthesiology (EBA) of the UEMS. Its aim is to improve and harmonise anaesthesia training throughout Europe. The accreditation inspection focuses on structure as well as process. Structure addresses resources whereas process refers to the "educational climate" and to how existing educational resources are used. Accredited centres will, as centres of excellence, serve as references for national visiting programmes.

The first visit of the re-launched programme was in February 2008 to Bursa, Turkey. Since then have followed Riga, Latvia; Msida, Malta; Dresden, Erlangen, Düsseldorf and Münster, Germany; Turku, Finland; Ljubljana, Slovenia; Brussels and Genk, Belgium; Amsterdam and Utrecht, the Netherlands; Ankara, Turkey; Gothenburg, Sweden, and several others are in pipeline for visits in the near future.
