Webinar on Anaesthetic management of patients with obesity morbid obesity (17 March 2020, 18h00 pm to 19h00 pm)

Aim

This webinar will focus on the preoperative assessment and identification of patients with obesity/morbid obesity and its complications, especially obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA) and alveolar hypoventilation. It will then examine the physiological and pharmacological aspects of the anaesthesia and postoperative care of these patients, including analgesia. Postoperative care will also cover where and how best to care and monitor these patients, including CPAP and NIV and determination of fitness for transfer to the ward and home.

After Taking Part

This webinar will enable anaesthesiologists to:

  • Identify morbidly obese patients at higher risk of intraoperative and postoperative pulmonary complications
  • Optimize intraoperative ventilatory setting to improve intraoperative and postoperative respiratory function

  • Respiratory care after anaesthesia

  • Optimise multimodal anaesthesia and pain treatment in intra-operatively and postoperatively, including opioid free or opioids sparing management
