ESA Newsletter Deputy Editor

The ESA Communications Committee is seeking to recruit 1 motivated and enthusiastic member as the Deputy Editor for the official ESA Newsletter.

The Position for a three-year mandate becomes vacant on 1Janauary 2020.

Role

The Deputy Editor will work closely with, and under the guidance of, the newsletter Editor-in-Chief to:

  • Source and prepare content for on-going newsletter articles
  • Plan for long-term projects (3 months - 1 year)
  • Handle daily editorial needs
  • Coordinate with colleagues in other regions on relevant news / events for the newsletter
  • Help authors develop story ideas
  • Make permanent contact with other European bodies and societies

Requirements

Applications are encouraged from Active ESA members who meet the following criteria:

  • Clear spirit of collaboration with the ESA officers and the Editor-in-Chief
  • comfortable with formats other than 1000-word articles (such as shorter pieces, photos and charts) when they are better for efficiently and effectively getting a story across
  • Adept at market research to see what the anaesthesiology community is currently interested in and to identify hot topics of interest
  • Proven editing and writing skills; ability to write clear, structured, articulate articles
  •  Ability to meet deadlines
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
