Communication Committee Members Recruitment

The ESA is seeking to recruit 2 new motivated and enthusiastic members to the Communication Committee to assist in evolving and advancing strategies and projects in the Communication Department of the ESA.

The position for a three-year mandate becomes vacant on 1 January 2020.

Role

Communication plays an important role in the development of strategies for the most effective means to promote the activities of the ESA and to generate more interest, engagement, and membership within the Society and community. The Committee is currently composed of eight members:

  • Board President

  • 3 Active Members

  • 1 Trainee

  • Editor-in-Chief of the ESA Newsletter

  • CEO of the secretariat

  • Communication Manager

  • Occasionally 1 external expert in the field of PR/Communications/Social Media/Marketing

The role of the Communications Committee will be a think tank to:

  • Discuss and shape new initiatives related to communications, PR and community engagement

  • Highlight inspirational work and other examples of projects/campaigns done outside of the organization

  • Ensure the scope of the communication’s projects and campaigns reflect and stay in-line with the mission and vision of the society

  • Help provide fresh ideas, material and content to the internal communications team

  • Provide feedback on articles submitted to the ESA newsletter and help facilitate the acquirement of new articles

Committee Members will be required to attend at least 1 meeting of the Communication Committee at the annual Euroanaesthesia Congress and several WebEx (teleconference) meetings throughout the year. Travel expenses to attend meetings of the Committee are provided according to standard ESA policy.

Requirements

Applications are encouraged from active ESA members who meet the following criteria:

  • Interested in social media, PR and/or general communications

  • Understanding of ESA membership needs

  • Previous experience with (or practical understanding of) online digital solutions

  • Excellent communications skills  

  • Willingness to regularly contribute content for social media, newsletter articles, website updates

  • Experience in Social Media as marketing tool (optional)

The mandate is for three years and is renewable twice for one year for a total of five years.
